Summary

This report is part of the ‘Ideas for Action’ series and brings together the main conclusions of the working group promoted by alinnea throughout 2024 to define financing vehicles for building renovation and decarbonization.

The report includes the deliberations of this working group, including an initial analysis of the state of the Spanish real estate stock and the subsequent identification of the financing needs of the residential building renovation sector, as well as the main obstacles that are slowing down the decarbonization of the real estate sector. Finally, it includes the working group’s recommendations for accelerating building renovation in Spain, in line with the objectives set out in the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) for 2030.

The participation of the entities does not necessarily imply their adherence, in the form of specific commitments, to the ideas presented in the final document.

The renovation of residential buildings and the improvement of their energy efficiency is a complex challenge that involves a large number of actors from various spheres, both public and private, as well as social entities.
